Eum-Myung So Obliterate the boundaries of a material’s original purpose while maximizing its physical properties. The works focus on the sole fact that materials or stereotypical objects can be used as an individual entity through breaking the stereotypes set by the society through dimensional sculpturing. The recent works express the fascination towards the properties and the meaning of connection of bands. ‘The 5 steps of healing, 2017’ emphasizes the process of inner peace through seemingly pointless repetitions, and shows deep interaction with both the creator and the viewer. 소은명 작가는 재료의 물적 특성은 극대화 하면서도 본래의 쓰임에 적용되는 방식을 거부 한다. 그 후 입체적으로 조각함으로써 재료가 가진 관념적인 이 사회에서의 위치의 틀을 해제시킨다. 이는 재료자체가 독립적 물체로서 쓰여질 수 있음에 집중한다.. 최근까지의 연작들은 밴드의 연결이라는 물성과 의미에 매료된 작품을 보여주고 있다. ‘치유의 5단계,2017’의 의미 없는 반복적 행위를 통하여 치유를 경험한다는 형식은 보는 이도 만드는 이도 공감하게 한다. 더 나아가 대형 설치작업을 통하여 다각도의 작업이 동시다발적으로 제시되고 있다.
